Through mirth, satire and primary colors invoking associations to the art materials of childhood, the gallery becomes a place in which to enjoy the sensuality of visual art.  At the same time, a community forum is created for the contemplation ofserious issues we humans now face: how can we come together in peace and health in our current world?  What stories can we share that illuminate our essential unity as human beings on Earth?

Artist Fran Bull and her longtime collaborator, Architect Robert Black bring a PARTY to the Sandy Hill Arts Center. This joyous installation of painted figurative sculpture, architectural structures and works on paper, features a festive and diverse collection of characters. The motley array is inspired by Commedia Dell'arte, Carnival, Boardwalk, Circus, the polychromed sculpture of the ancient Greeks and even  Shakespeare's Fools. Crafted over several years in studio in Brandon, Vermont, Fran and Robert wish to convey, through the diversity and celebratory attitudes of the sculptures,  the urgency for all humans to learn to live peacefully on earth. The pandemic has taught us that we are all connected, all related, that our lives are intertwined. This party is imagined as a metaphor for our very lives on the planet. It is envisioned as an incalculably precious, mirthful and sacred gift. The artists have staged a party  in the beautiful, newly restored Sandy Hill Arts Center.

We're All At A Party is envisioned as a community event. Part of its mission is to promote wholesomeness and creativity. Visitors-adults and children- are encouraged to engage with the installation by writing thoughts and making drawings. Work tables  and art supplies will be provided. All are invited.
